There were the two afternoon classes doing the graduation, and they all sat on the risers. The principal got up and said a few words and introduced the teachers, then turned the time over to the music teacher. The kids (and those of us in the audience) stood up and said the Pledge of Allegiance. The kids did it in english and then in spanish. They all did pretty well on the spanish part. I was impressed. Then they sang a few patriotic songs. Ben didn't really do any of the hand movements because as he told me later, he didn't want me to see him doing them.
Ms. Matthew's class then got up on the stage and Ms. Matthews introduced each of her students and gave them each their certificate of graduation. They all then sat back on the risers and the kids all sang a few more songs. Then it was Mrs. Rounds' class and Ben's turn to go up. He walked a bit shyly and slowly up to get his certificate when she said his name and hurried back when he got it.
After all the kids got their certificates, they sat back on the risers and did a few more songs and the program was over. They had punch and cookies back in the classroom and were able to come home when they were done with the refreshments. They were sent home with their report cards too.
Ben got mostly Y's (the equivalent of A's) on his card. A couple of Y-'s and one or two A's (stands for Almost, and is basically like a B) and A+'s. His teacher wrote on there that he continues to exceed the kindergarten requirements and will do great in the first grade.
And yes, Ben has school tomorrow, but then he's done for the summer. Here are a couple (they were dark and got edited, so they're a bit blurry, sorry) pictures from the graduation. I did more with video, so I didn't get all the still pictures I would have liked.
